Technology Tools for teaching ELA in special education

This is a fantastic technology tool for teaching both language and speaking.  This is one of the best communication devices.   With this device, students who are non-verbal have the opportunity to have their voices heard, express understanding and actively learn.  Luckily, parents who advocate for these devices for their children can get them purchased via their school district and many health insurance plans cover the expense of the device.

This is a website that students with autism seem to truly enjoy to help them to learn how to read.  It is a free phonics based skill building program that gives the user opportunity for phonemic awareness practice.  The activities provided in this program and engaging, interactive, and fun.

Intellikeys is a usb keyboard system to assist students with special needs with writing.  The attached link is a demonstration of the product.

Listening:
FM System are used to assist children in a classroom who wears hearing aids.  Recently, FM systems have also been used in classrooms to help students with ADD/ADHD in classrooms.  The following is a video explaining FM systems and their use in classrooms:
